LONDON, UK--Containerisation International (CI), a leading UK-based magazine covering global container shipping, held its first CI Awards in London and bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Chang Yung-Fa, founder of Evergreen Group.

The prestigious award was accepted by Mr. Maurice Storey, Honorary Chairman of Evergreen Marine (UK) Ltd., on behalf of Dr. Chang. The ceremony was held at 8 Northumberland, a magnificent venue in the heart of London, and witnessed by more than 200 guests from the global shipping community.

The CI Awards is an annual event set up to recognize those companies and individuals who over the past year have made an outstanding contribution to the container liner shipping and logistics industry, either through being innovative, proactive and pioneering. The first ever Lifetime Achievement Award from CI reflected the pioneering media's high regard to Dr. Chang and showed their recognition of his contribution to the container shipping industry.

This is the second time that Dr. Chang has received such an honor from a world-renowned shipping media. In February 2006, Lloyd's List bestowed a Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Chang in its annual Lloyd's List Awards, an acclaimed event in the shipping industry.

Dr. Chang asked Mr. Maurice Storey to deliver following remarks on his behalf."Containerisation International is a widely acclaimed shipping news media. It is a high honor to receive this prestigious award. I believe that the purpose of this award is not just to recognize the innovative solutions adopted to meet the changing market but also to honor the generosity to give back to society.
