Evergreen Group Chairman Y. F. Chang
awarded honorary doctorate by St. Petersburg academy


Dr. Chang Yung-fa, Group Chairman of the Evergreen Group, has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Transport and the title Honorary Academician by the Russian Academy of Transport in recognition of his contributions and innovations in international transportation and his dedication to maritime education.

The Russian Academy of Transport confers honorary doctorates to commemorate major achievements by individuals in the field of transportation. Dr. Chang is the first Asian entrepreneur to receive this honor.

The Russian Academy of Transport is an all-Russian organisation uniting scientists, professionals and managers who have made important contributions to both theory and practice in rail, highway, air, sea and pipeline transportation. Individual members include distinguished scientists and practical experts in areas of transport, and its collective members are educational institutions and companies that are leaders in the industry. In St Petersburg, the Makarov Academy and the University of Water Communications are collective members.

This is the sixth Honorary Doctorate to be conferred on Dr. Chang.
Previously, he was awarded:

  • Doctorate of Business Administration from National Chiao Tung University/Taiwan in 2000.
  • Doctorate of Business Administration from Nottingham Trent University/U.K. in 1999.
  • Doctorate of Shipping and Transporation Management from National Taiwan Ocean Univeristy/Taiwan in 1998.
  • Doctorate of Business Administration from University of South Carolina/U.S.A. in 1995.
  • Doctorate of Humane Letters from San Francisco State University/U.S.A. in 1990.
